How It’s Made
Built To Outlast
Copperhead Woodworks builds furniture with superior materials and time-tested methods. Every choice, from the wood to the joinery, to the finish—is made with quality, integrity and long service in mind.
The result is beautiful, functional, one-of-a-kind, heirloom furniture you can hand down to the next generation.
Quality Lumber
All furniture is built from solid hardwood. Species are selected for strength, stability, and suitability for the role each part plays in the finished piece.
Boards are evaluated for grain orientation, moisture content, and natural movement. Wood is allowed to behave as wood will, rather than being restrained in ways that lead to failure over time.
Structural components are never built from veneers or engineered panels.
We rely on traditional joinery because it creates connections that don't depend solely on fasteners or adhesives. The joints we use distribute load evenly, accommodate for natural wood movement, and can be repaired if necessary—qualities essential for heirloom furniture expected to last decades. Common methods include:
Mortise & tenon joinery for frames & load-bearing connections
Dovetails where resistance to pull and racking is required
Drawbored joints to lock tenons mechanically for added strength
Traditional Joinery
Our finishes are simple and practical. We use natural wax or oil finishes to protect the wood, no plastics, heavy-metal drying agents or VOC’s. These finishes are:
Non-toxic
Easily renewed
Repairable
Simple, Repairable Finishes
